My family’s agricultural roots run deep. Farming is not just my occupation, it’s my family’s heritage. I am a fourth generation California farmer, with many more prior generations farming in my ancestral Japan. Our family farm, Harry’s Berries, is located in Ventura County, in the city of Oxnard, about 60 miles north of Los Angeles. Harry’s Berries was established in 1966 by my father, Harry Iwamoto. It is now operated by my husband, Rick Gean, and myself, along with our three adult children.

We grow unusual specialty varieties of strawberries and vegetables which we sell exclusively at 20 Southern California farmers’ markets. We have participated in farmers’ markets for the past 23 years. We farm sustainably and have used no synthetic chemicals since 1998.

We are passionate advocates for preserving family farms, supporting local agriculture, and promoting farmers’ markets. We believe in the environmental benefits of local food systems such as reduced fuel usage and reduced air pollution, and the health and nutritional benefits provided by consuming fresh, wholesome foods.
