Chris Rutherford Co-Founder SaveOurTacoTrucks.org Los Angeles, CA www.saveourtacotrucks.org
Chris Rutherford is the co-founder of Saveourtacotrucks.org, a website founded in 2008 in response to an ordinance passed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors that would have seriously threatened the existence of taco trucks in unincorporated Los Angeles County. Chris, along with his freshman roommate from Occidental College, Aaron Sonderleiter, were both devoted taco truck connoisseurs whose love for the mobile eateries was formed over many late night snacks in Eagle Rock. Along with a petition that garnered more than 10,000 signatures, Saveourtacotrucks.org organized a Taco Truck Night Los Angeles and a Taco Libre night to promote their cause of finding a reasonable alternative that would allow the trucks to remain a viable business model in the county. Saveourtacotrucks.org was subsequently profiled in the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Christian Science Monitor, TIME Magazine, as well as other national and international media outlets. Chris currently resides in Highland Park where he faithfully patronizes the localesquitesvendors, fruit carts, and taco trucks. He is a teacher of English Literature in Los Angeles. |
